Commissioned by Beirut Art Center in the framework of Micro-commissions no. 4: The Bridge Cuts Ever So Close to My Balcony with the support of 21dB. Recorded and Mastered by Tunefork studios. The patch built for this piece using Max/MSP detects sounds from gathered audio recordings of protestors banging on pots, rails and metal sheets during the 2019-2020 popular uprising.. Impacts and percussiveness were converted into computational data. These were used by the system that controls this sound piece, to trigger and manipulate low frequency sounds, emerging from transducers placed on Beirut Art Centerβs bridge. Here, low frequencies as the ones with the longest wavelength, outlive any event as they travel the furthest, reaching zones where only sound and its vibrations are capable to infiltrate. Loudness was used to communicate rage and retaliation, hoping that it would reach the highly fortified governmental sites.
